neck pain hand numbness

Neck pain and numbness in left arm?
My husband has been having constant neck pain for the last three weeks. He has gone to see a doctor about it who said that the muscles in his neck are swollen and gave him some anti-inflammatories. The pain had subsided a little bit yesterday (third day of taking the anti-inflammatories), but now it’s back full force and he has more tingling sensation in this left arm and hand. Any ideas?
This could be a disc issue- especially because he is getting numbness and tingling into his arm and hand. If he does not get get better, best thing to do will be to get an MRI which will show if indeed there is a disc bulge or herniation. It could be just muscular too, but the only way to find out is with more diagnostic tests. Hope this helps.
