lower back pain pregnancy 1st trimester

26 Weekd Pregnant & Feel Lower Abdominal Pain?

Hello ALl, I’m 26 Wks pregnant & yesterday morning I started feeling lower abdominal pain, similar to feeling like menstral cramps. I wrote it off as constipation since I didn’t have my usual bowel movement in the morning. But, throughout the day the pain would come & go and continued thru the night hours.

The pain is still there this morning, I called the DR & left a message for the nurse–this is my 1st pregnancy so of course I’m concerned because up to this point I have had no problems!

I though maybe the pain could be from my uterus & stomach stretching to accomdate the growing baby?

Has anyone else experienced this pain this far along? I know it’s common in the 1st trimester?

First of all, don’t panic. Pain in pregnancy is scary, but it’s not necessarily an emergency. I have this pain a lot, not anything severe, just like cramping kind of like menstrual cramps or feeling like you need to have a bowel movement. I’ve asked my doctor about it repeatedly and he has always reassured me that it’s normal. Definitely call your doctor’s office and ask them what they want you to do. Is there any bleeding? Fever? Are you sick to your stomach? If the cramps are accompanied by any of those then you should definitely seek immediate medical attention, but if not I would say you’re ok to just call the doctor and see what they say. If your nurse won’t get back to you, call again and talk to the receptionist and tell her what’s going on. Chances are she’ll put you right through to the nurse instead of having to wait until she checks her messages. Good luck
