herniated disc nerve compression

Herniated disc issues: how common is it that once a disk herniation heals, the other side becomes inflammed?
Disc herniation L4-5, with severe inflammation with nerve compression to the left leg, making me bed ridden for 3wks, I’ve had 2 of my 3 steroid injections, is it from me “babying” my left leg, or is it possible that my right side is now being compressed/affected? Or did I possibly do too much too fast? Im calling my neuro tomorrow so I’m not looking for medical answers like I’ll get then, just looking to see what other’s experiences may have been. Thanks!
my husband has the same problem..He had to sleep on the couch with his leg propped up on the back of the couch many many nights…weeks.. anyway nothing not even pain killers helped..Dr recommended therapy He didn’t want it cause it was painful. We bought a inversion table and a 5 lb weight and slowly one step on the inversion table about every week or so, It has been a year now and he has little pain unless he does a lot of work. The pain got really bad until he couldn’t walk for 2 days and then all of the sudden it left. He also had nerves pinched. We were told the injections only last a while and in the end are not good for you so we opted not to do them. He tried different things on his own. Physical therapist told him he needed to stretch those compressed disks and that is what the inversion table done. They also recommended he not use the table! don’t know why, unless money thing.
